Why I chose these prayers
These prayers are all prayers (or passages) about forgiveness. Although some had language that was hard to understand, the message still got through loud and clear; God wants us to forgive because we were made in his image. God always forgave. It's the same story with Mary, Jesus and Joseph and all other Bible figures.
There is a whole Catholic Sacrament devoted to forgiveness. This sacrament is called Reconciliation. As one of my prayers I used the prayer that is prayed during Reconciliation, it asks for forgiveness of a one's sins.
Each of the prayers had something unique about them to make me pick them. The passage from the Ephesians was probably the prayer that stood out to me the most because although it did use old terms like 'Ye' it was still easy to understand but yet have a deep meaning, just like the Act of Sorrow and Acceptance and Forgiveness in the Scriptures.

Acceptance and Forgiveness in the ScripturesLoving Lord,
you tell us in the Bible that whatever wrong we have done you tread down our faults to the bottom of the sea. We know there is no need to keep thinking about what we have done in the past, because you pardon the wrongs we have done, and you delight in showing mercy. You bind up all our wounds and renew us by your love. Lord, you love that you have made, and it is your very nature to love and forgive. Lead us to be generous in accepting and forgiving each others in the same way as you accept and forgive us. Amen. |
The act of sorrowOh my God,
I am very sorry that I have sinned against you. Because you are so good and with your help, I will try not to sin again. Amen |
